Questions for the Council Candidates

Kia ora,

Spokes is reaching out to all council candidates to hear your thoughts on active transport, and how cycling can help create a more connected Ōtepoti Dunedin. We want to give voters a clear picture of where candidates stand on the role local government can play in building and supporting active transport networks

Please check out our Spokes website to find out more about Spokes, and we will share your response to the below questions on the Spokes website.

The three questions we are asking are:

  1. What is your vision for making it easier, safer and more enjoyable to walk, bike, and use public transport in Dunedin, and what specific actions will you be advocating to achieve this and increase active transport use?

  2. In terms of walking and cycling infrastructure, what are your top priorities for improvements in the next council term? How would you rank the necessity and urgency of these investments within current council spending?

  3. What are your top priorities for improving quality of life in public spaces across the city? Include your thoughts on quieter, traffic-calmed streets, and your vision for George Street, the Octagon, and other public spaces (especially in terms of accessibility).

Please respond by return email.

Do not hesitate to get in touch to find out more about Spokes and the difference we think councils can make in supporting active transport initiatives.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas.
