Envisions active transportation as the preferred choice leading to a healthier, more sustainable city through protected cycle lanes, improved public transport with electric buses, and traffic calming measures. As chair of the Disabilities Issues Advisory Group, she emphasizes accessibility for all users including mobility devices, advocates for weekend pedestrianization of George Street, and supports urgent investment in low-emissions infrastructure rather than reductions.

My vision is an Ōtepoti Dunedin where active transportation is the preferred and accessible choice for many residents, leading to a healthier, more vibrant, and sustainable city. This means more people walking, biking, and using public transport for everyday journeys.

Actions to implement this :

  • Invest in a network of safe, protected cycle lanes and pedestrian walkways, separated from traffic where possible.

  • Work with ORC for Improved public transport, Increasing the frequency and reliability of bus services, expanding routes to north coast area and improving the quality of buses( encourage more electric fleet)

  • Implementing traffic calming measures like speed bumps and lower speed limits in residential areas and around schools to improve safety for all road users.

  • Launch campaigns to promote and raise awareness about the benefits of active transport, including its positive impact on health, the environment, and the community.

I personally believe we need to Urgently transition towards low emissions communities by prioritising and increasing, not reducing, investment in walking and cycling infrastructure.

Creating a safer environment for all road users, particularly pedestrians and cyclists, through infrastructure improvements and traffic calming measures.

Enhanced connectivity-Ensuring seamless and convenient connections between different modes of transport, including public transport hubs, cycle lanes, and pedestrian walkways.

As above work with ORC to increase bus reliability and frequency.

I continually advocate for a welcoming and accessible city for all of our residents.

Currently, I am the chair on the Disabilities issues advisory group. We advocate for things like drop curbs to allow people to wheel across the road easily (prams, mobility devices, bikes and trikes)

I believe an accessible city that is easier to get around is safer and user-friendly for all residents and all modes of travel.

I would like to see George Street pedestrianisation introduced on weekends to allow for larger gatherings of people (simply putting the bollards up at either end of the street). Music and events and a celebratory atmosphere that reflects what a great place we live in.

Once Bath street has been completed, keep going and enhance the Octagon space.
