Prioritizes major trail projects (Coastal Connection, Tunnel Trail, Taieri Trail) for tourism and recreation benefits. Strongly supports George Street extension through Octagon and Princes Street. Advocates for bikes on buses and inner city electric loop bus but doesn’t address many safety specifics.

Hi Devonia

Thanks for your email.
I have responded as your questions arise below….

A solution to allowing bikes on buses must be found without delay. Secure cycle storage at park and ride locations. The Tunnel trail to remove the hills between Mosgiel and Dunedin. More cycle storage in key locations.

My priorities are the Coastal Connection, the Tunnel Trail and the Taieri Trail – these projects are important to bring high value , low carbon visitors to Dunedin, and provide a fabulous recreational and commuting option for residents. These trails would be prioritised over further extensions to inner-city cycleways (until the hospital is completed and needs reassessed)

George Street upgrade should be carried through the Octagon and Princes Street to the exchange. This valuable part of town needs to be revitalised. Moana Pool is a big worry for me, an issue that not many are talking about, even less are being honest about. An orbiting electric bus travelling from the railway station – exchange – Octagon – University – Hospital - railway station on an inner city loop would be a great asset and encourage people out of cars for at least part of the journey.

I would be very happy to talk with your group, to learn about your vision and hopes

Regards and thanks for this initiative

Andrew
