Winter night lights ride - preparatory workshop

As preparation for the Winter night lights ride (Winter night light ride), we’ll be having a quick workshop this weekend so people can deck out their own bike in LED lights.
Gerard will bring the light kits (11x bullet pixel LEDs with controller), all people will need to bring is their bikes and a power pack and cable (USB-C end). The lights can be attached via simple cable ties. There are 11 kits so first in first served!

EDIT - change of day/time to Sunday 28th 10.30am in the Botanical Gardens, on the lawn in front of the band stage (so we can use the stage if weather isn’t good).
Hope to see people then!

LEDs + WLED controller details:
Wrap string of LEDs around bike as appropriate
Plug male end of WLED controller cable to female end of LED string
Plug battery/power pack into USB-C socket on WLED controller
8 Pre-configured light sequences will cycle through in 100 seconds
Additional: WLED software downloadable for iPhones & Androids
On app (or PC) look for Wifi access point “WLEDSPOKES1-8” and connect; if prompted, password is wled1234
Open Chrome browser to site http://4.3.2.1
Play with colours, effects, strengths, and save as presets.

I had a quick nosy on bits of the proposed route options.

There are some annoying judder bars on the stretch of Union street beside the Business School from Leith walk to Clyde street, but it’s a lovely q(uiet and probably empty at that time of day.

The other option along by the river looks nice. The path under Clyde street bridge should be doable, so long as the lead is going slow enough to give a warning to any pedestrians who have to dodge us “enjoy the 20 bike light show!”. I can go down earlier in the day and sweep up the broken glass under the bridge.

The alternative for that section does have more space, but we’d be going the wrong way along the one way section of Leith bank.

Albany Street is probably ok in the easterly direction towards the stadium and the road works will keep it a bit quieter I suppose
