Traffic lights not responding to bikes

The following junctions have lights that do not respond to bikes. That is to say that a bike does not trigger the ground-loop detector and the traffic lights never cycle to give the bike a green light. After a while the cyclist realises this and has to jump the light.

The list is not exhaustive - feel free to add more examples. (All members can edit this post directly)

  • Stuart Street near Moana pool
  • Octagon
  • Barns Drive/Caversham Valley Rd (SH1)
  • Rattray St/York Pl/Arthur St
  • David Street/South Road

I’d also add the North Rd shops intersection (by the Gardens). With the amount of foot traffic that should absolutely be a Barnes dance intersection, with a light for cyclists at the same time as pedestrians.
