This is something that KiwiRail won’t budge on - it is by no means the only example of how intractable they are to anything other than their own operations.
I’d like to know if the new barriers on the new barriers at Wickliffe St are causing similar problems - not a problem for normal bikes, but they feel tight to me.
Who was your contact for this? It is a pain on my cargo bike and would love to follow up with them on this.
It would be great to have a joined up response to this. I recall being able to navigate the Ravensbourne crossing while towing a bike trailer with two kids in it, but it took significant skill.

It is even more of a pain for someone in a handcycle, but my recollection was that when approached some years ago, Kiwi Rail were unresponsive. That crossing would ideally have barriers like at the station. Maybe it is time to ask them again.
