Meeting about GLOW (professional development support for community and climate leaders)

Kia ora,

Apologies for the short notice. My name is Patrick Rooney, and I’m part of the national organising group for GLOW. I’ll be in Dunedin from the morning of Friday May 16th until Sunday evening, and was hoping you might have a brief window to meet.

GLOW is an independent, non-partisan candidate incubator. We’re on a mission to encourage a new cohort of local leaders by providing professional development support for diverse, talented community and climate leaders to stand for, and thrive in, this year’s local government elections. Our aim is to be a launchpad for these voices, enabling them to drive climate and community-led action.

Our 12-week incubator program covers how local government works, campaigning tips, and fosters a vital support network for new candidates.

I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to tell you more about our initiative and discuss how your organisation might encourage greater diversity of people and ideas in the upcoming elections.

Would you have any availability for a brief chat, perhaps over a coffee?

Looking forward to the possibility.

Ngā mihi,

Thanks for that Patrick.

It certainly ties in nicely with our recent thoughts about how we might effectively engage with the council over the next few months in the local election phase.

Personally, I’m free Sunday afternoon and could even offer you a free ride out to the airport if you are interested.

Hi Nathan

Sunday afternoon sounds good. Does 2.30pm Sunday work for you?

Thanks for the offer of the ride too…I’m heading off to Christchurch by bus on Monday.

Cheers
Patrick

Sounds good!

How about meeting up somewhere in town, with other @members most welcome to join us?

@Robyn - would we be able to meet at YOURS for this?

Sounds great. Just let me know the venue and I’ll be there.

Would it be possible to meet slightly earlier, say 2pm. No problem if not possible.

Patrick

@NathanK it’s in the regular opening hours of the cafe and there’s no events booked so I expect it would be a quiet place to meet. The cabinet and menu offerings will be dependent on the whim and capacity of the co-operators on the day. I’m unsure if I can be there, may have family commitments, but there’s no need to do anything other than wander in and choose a table

Just checking if we are meeting today?

Aaarrrggghh! I did have a vague feeling today that I was supposed to be doing something. Deepest apologies.
