The DCC are looking at Vogel Street improvements. I have been invited to a workshop but since it falls in the school holidays, I might not be able to attend. Anyone else keen? The info I have:
As you may know, we have been talking about improving Vogel Street to be a low speed/low volume shared street that can function as a primary cycling route, connecting the City Centre to the South.
The project has been identified through the draft Otepoti Dunedin Pathways project as a high priority and we are currently in the process of engaging ViaStrada to help us advance the planning.
The desired outputs are concept options for Vogel St and a network plan that outlines how the southern part of the central city will function as a whole, considering the SH1 improvements project and Princes St projects. This will then feed into current projects and we will aim for funding through the DCC 9 Year Plan (2025-34).
It would be great to have you involved in the project early on. To enable this, we would like to invite you to two workshops:
Clean sheet information gathering workshop (in person)
Monday 14 April from 2pm
Tuesday 15 April from 11am
Thursday 17 April from 1pm
Draft options workshop (online workshop, 4 weeks after the first workshop)
Also, do we have any information about how long each workshop is? Perhaps you could just pass on to me the contact details of the organiser and I will figure it out.
I attended the online “Vogel Street improvements - workshop 2” this morning. A presentation by John Lieswyn of Viastrada. Some good discussions of the various possible treatments of the various cross streets and the end points. For those interested the slides will be shared next week.
The changes proposed are all things that will need a reasonable budget and there is no funding, so don’t hold your breath!
