Continuation of green paint on existing cycleways, to make continuous routes (helpful not just for visibility/safety but also wayfinding).
Ideal scenario is for a completely new visitor to the city to be able to travel around by bike following the green paint markings (bonus - it also helps identify gaps in the network).
Suggestion: If annual DCC budget for cycling infrastructure not completely spent in any given year then use funds to add extra green paint to cycle routes, rather than the money going unspent.
Add any areas here that are obvious contenders for the green paint treatment
This might be a separate idea-
Kaokorai valley road could do with a lane realignment as well. Reassign some of the central median to separating the cycle lane from the door zone. Green paint and wide borders like on new bit of one way north
Any time they resurface a road with cycle lanes they should check if updating the markings is a good idea.
This is a fantastic suggestion, Kaikorai Valley Rd has always infuriated me in its design with a narrow car-door lane and then a wasted central median flush area serving no purpose.
I think this should be a separate topic by itself and added to the list. The only question is the cost and whether it can be practically achieved now. However, the core concept of moving the lane out of the car-door zone simply requires repainting lines so very low cost if not over-engineered, and no car-parks need to be lost so theoretically uncontroversial (theoretically of course, it would obviously be front-page ODT).
The suggestion of building back better when roads are resurfaced etc is also something I think should be its own topic (and a great suggestion). I recall the new government policy guidelines may have expressly forbidden this though, with funds unable to be used for purposes other than the core purpose? Regardless, we should push it anyway
