Strathallan St changes

Can anyone point me to information here or on the DCC website about how the changes on Strathallan St (eliminating right turns onto Portobello Road) will accommodate bikes and pedestrians? Unless there is a new bike crossing planned at that intersection, the options for people coming south along the already sketchy bike path/route along SH1 from the CBD seem to be staying on Andersons Bay Road (on a horriifc stretch with lots of driveways and no provision for bikes) or going down Strathallan, making a right turn across all that additional truck traffic, and riding over to Orari St. to mix it up with traffic at the new roundabout.

I need to go and have a look this weekend, since I’m not sure which end of Strathallan St you are referring to. Totally agree with Andersons Bay Road … a nightmare anywhere and in both directions - something we have brought up many times.

I’ll be meeting the planning team on Tuesday and can bring this up.

For traffic heading down Strathallan St towards Portsmouth Drive (not P’bello Rd, sorry), the plan, as I understand it, is to remove the right-turn lane and create two left-turn lanes instead. The rationale is that there will be more traffic, especially heavy trucks, heading in that direction when traffic on northbound SH1 is restricted by hospital construction. But there is currently a bike lane between the right and left turning lanes on Strathallan St, to allow cyclists to cross Portsmouth Drive onto the shared path, and I haven’t seen any mention of what will happen to that.

Ok, that’s clear. I’ll follow this up on Tuesday.
