I met up with Scott and his locally-made carbon fibre cargo bike. Very impressive piece of kit and probably the neatest electric installation I’ve ever seen. Hand built in Central Otago. Worth checking out if in the market for something like a Tern GSD or Yuba Spicy Curry.

What was it like to ride? Is it too lightweight??
It’s beautifully built and feels solid - I think Scott has got the balance right. It does not have the size of rack my Yuba Mundo has and he is conservative about the max load it can carry, in part because the max official load the tyres are rated for. I didn’t test it loaded or on steep Dunedin hills, which would be something worth testing. A lot of good design and component choices. CYC motor is sweet and does not have the Bosch lock-in.
It faces stiff competition from established brands such as Tern and Yuba at the more or less the same price point. But as a custom build it does offer something a little different. And it is made in Otago!
