2026 Big Bike Scavenger Hunt

Annual bike-based Dunedin scavenger event, with proceeds going to Dunedin Tracks and Trails

Ready for a two-wheeled quest through the streets of Ōtepoti? 🕵️‍♂️🚲
Dust off your bike, grab your helmet, and round up your crew! The Big Bike Scavenger Hunt is back for 2026, and we’re taking over the city for an afternoon of clues, hidden gems, and hilarious challenges.

This isn’t a race to the finish line—it’s about exploring the nooks and crannies of Dunedin, solving riddles, and seeing our city from a whole new perspective. Whether you’re a pro cyclist, a family with trailers, or haven’t been on a bike in years, this event is for everyone.

I’ve booked the family in. Probably do 2 teams of 2.

That’s great! Thanks Fraser, looking forward to seeing you all there!

Only two more sleeps until the 2026 Big Bike Scavenger Hunt !!!

I am really really excited about what we’ve managed to arrange for this year’s hunt, with cryptic clues, extra challenges, and a (patent pending) Dunner Stunner to write home about.

We have prizes for best dressed, overall winners, tidy kiwi and what’s more - proceeds for the event are going towards Dunedin Tracks and Trails !!

Registrations are still open over at EventBrite (below) so get your crew together and enter before midday Saturday!

This sounds awesome, was very keen but toddler birthday clashes will keep me away this time unfortunately. Hope it’s a great day

I have reserved for our team. We are four, so I reserved four spaces, but now I’m not sure if I should have just done one for the whole team?

Fair question. It’s supposed to be 1 place per participant, so you’ve done well! :+1:

Just to say, this event was AWESOME : Many thanks to @LiamHarrison and his crew for an excellent event. My family loved it, we learned a bit more about Dunedin and the format and execution was top notch. If you get the chance to do it next year, do so. We’ll be there!

I second Fraser’s comments. Excellent event. Good to see a decent turnout, but it would be amazing to see even more people there, especially families. Perfect entertainment for anyone with kids, or anyone who is still a kid at heart.
